Isolation Service Manifold Operation
33
Operation
The Isolation Service Manifold (ISM) consists of hand valves for reducing
residual hydraulic pressure and draining hydraulic fluid. The ISM allows you to
service the hydraulic system that can include following components:
Hydraulic power unit (HPU)
Hydraulic service manifold (HSM)
Hardline
Actuators
Ensure the HPU is off before performing maintenance.
Having hydraulic pressure applied when using the ISM hand valves can
damage components.
Always be sure the HPU is off and Accumulator pressure has been reduced to
zero before using the hand valves on the ISM.
Typically, the procedure is:
1. Ensure the HPU is off
Before using the ISM hand valves to reduce system hydraulic pressure and
drain hydraulic fluid.
2. Connect hose to maintenance drain port. If desired, you can connect a
scavenge pump.
3. Open the needle valve to allow fluid flow from drain to maintenance drain
circuit.
4. Open the hinged panel to access the hand valves.
5. Ensure the solenoid valve and relief valve are deenergized/ The LEDs on
these valves should be extinguished.
Note The pressure to return and return to drain hand valves can be used
simultaneously.
6. Use the spring loaded hand valve to dump pressure to return.
The valve is spring loaded and must be held in place until pressure is zero.
Pressure can be monitored on the pressure gage on the ISM front panel.
When all fluid has been dumped to return, release the hand valve.
